Now that the final medals have been handed out in Paris and another entertaining games is in the record books, it’s time to look back on the most important aspect of the past few weeks: the golf. Or more specifically for what we do around here: what the golfers were wearing.
Sure it might seem hard to stand out in a crowd when everyone is essentially wearing uniforms, but golf and golf clothes are unique in that even the most standard of outfits can still be absolute fire. And that was the case with both the men and women golfers who represented their countries in France, so let’s take a look at who stood out and how you can achieve a similar look.
Golden Looks
Let us begin with the obvious stand-outs, the gold medal winners! FairwayStyles gave you the full breakdown a while back on what the Americans would be wearing, but nothing could quite prepare people for how good the special J. Lindeberg line of clothes looked in action. And when it comes to the golden boy, Scottie Scheffler, the historic final round he put together was made even more epic with his Jerome Sidestripe pants in Estate Blue, accentuating each and every stride he made to victory.
On the women’s side, Lydia Ko of New Zealand took home the gold medal and did it wearing FootJoy apparel. She was calm and cool on her way to victory in a top similar to the Space Dye Racer Tank, providing comfortable movement, protection from the sun and complete with a zip closure. She paired it with a skort similar to the Performance Interlock Knit Skort, which was designed with side vents and a stretch waistband.
Representing With Flare
Bringing the most personality to Le Golf National in Paris was Canada, outfitted by Puma, with prints, prints and more prints, each one unique to the country’s symbols and colors. For the ladies like Brooke Henderson, many of the tops were similar to the Puma MATTR Soto Shirt, which has UV protection and moisture wicking, and paired often with pants similar to the EveryDay Capri Pants.
Elsewhere it was WAAC being worn by Tom Kim and the rest of the team from South Korea. He pulled off some cool looks with something similar to the Color Rib Polo Shirt being worn early in the week, and something like the Arrow Reversed Collar Polo Shirt in the later rounds, complete with a couple bold vertical stripes down one side.
Honorable Mentions
Another brand with plenty of representation in Paris was Adidas, outfitting teams like Great Britain and Ireland. For Rory McIlroy and Team Ireland, they went with a more relaxed heathered look similar to the Ultimate365 Tour Heat RDY Shirt. On the Great Britain side, they looked sleek and cool in a more basic option like the The Go To Shirt, but they featured some very cool striping that was happening under the arms and on the sides.
Charley Hull of Great Britain also wore Adidas well, in something similar to the Ultimate 365 Solid Skort. While Leona Maguire of Team Ireland sported a look resembling the Solid Performance Shirt with her country’s colors.
And finally, we couldn’t write about interesting fashion in Paris and not mention Emiliano Grillo of Team Argentina, who wore Puma clothes on his body, but for some reason sported just a standard TravisMathew Patch Hat on his head, similar to this one, with just a picture of a golf cart and no country affiliation. But hey, we don’t blame him. They make great hats!
